Periodontal disease, also known commonly as gum disease are names used to cover a series of inflammatory conditions that affect the tissues surrounding and supporting the teeth. Such diseases are considered the main cause for tooth loss worldwide.
Signs of gum disease can present either as a reversible, relatively common superficial inflammation of the gums (gingivitis) to a more serious irreversible, progressive disease where patients lose the support of the teeth, the teeth can become mobile and eventually need to be extracted or in some cases exfoliate (fall out) naturally (periodontitis). Diseases that affect the gums can present at any time and can be very silent in nature.
Risk factors can include poor oral hygiene, smoking, family history – genetics and certain systemic disease. We here at Peters Village Dental work with the patient to identify these factors enabling to slow or halt the disease as much as possible
Maintaining good gum health and overall oral hygiene is the foundations of maintaining a healthy mouth and reducing the risk of dental treatment in the future.
Your gums are seen as the foundations of your teeth,
Inflammation of the gums, also known as gingivitis or periodontitis, occurs when the bacteria is sitting in the junction between the gum and the tooth and if left and not brushed away can lead to bone loss which will eventually cause tooth loss. To ensure this doesn’t happen our Hygienist recommends stable patients to visit every 6 months and any patients with implants or anyone trying to keep on top of their oral hygiene more frequently – every 3 months.
Root surface debridement is offered to patients with ongoing gum disease which involves deep periodontal cleaning beneath the gums. Our EMS Airflow machine is used to always provide maximum comfort to the patients.
Dental crowns/bridges are a laboratory made restoration which can restore the shape, color and function of a weak, root filled, broken or missing teeth. They can provide the remaining tooth structure with strength, support and longevity. The tooth will be prepared, a scan of the tooth is recorded (this eliminates the need for uncomfortable, cumbersome impressions), the image is then sent to the laboratory where the restoration is made. A fit appointment will be scheduled for two weeks after the preparation stage. Whilst the restoration is being made the patient will have a functional, comfortable temporary crown/bridge fitted.
A crown is fitted over the remaining tooth structure, a bridge is used to “bridge a gap” between teeth to replace one or more missing teeth.
A dental implant is a long-term solution for replacing missing or damaged teeth. The treatment involves the placement of a titanium screw into the jawbone, a laboratory made crown or bridge is then fitted restoring the appearance and function of the missing or damaged tooth.
There are many benefits of having an implant, to regain and maintain function of mastication (chewing), for aesthetic purposes to restore a gappy smile if an anterior tooth is lost, to maintain bone structure, dental implants help preserve bone levels which would normally start to reduce once a tooth is lost, this can give a sunken facial appearance through loss of support of the cheeks and lips. Other benefits include significant improvement of a patient’s oral health if a denture has been replaced with implants, this will also bring improvements to taste, comfort and function.
The functionality of the implant crowns will provide a natural appearance and feel in the patient’s mouth which has a positive effect on quality of life.
The process of implant placement will begin with a implant consultation where radiographs, photos and a full treatment plan are created. There are many different pathways for implant placement, typically once placed the implant requires three months for the implant to integrate with the natural bone and to heal. After the three months healing period you will then return for a digital impression to have your implant crown fitted two weeks later.
Patient feedback after implant placement includes increased confidence in appearance, being able to chew food more efficiently and improved overall comfort levels.
Not happy with the shape of your teeth? Have you got a gap that you want closing? Or a chip you want fixing? We have a team of talented Dentists who can perform beautiful smile makeovers with composite bonding.
Composite bonding works by adding small amounts of white filling material – composite – directly over the enamel of the tooth, the tooth is then shaped and polished creating the desired look. Composite bonding takes a minimal approach to treatment, the positives of this treatment is that there is no removal of the natural healthy tooth structure. Therefore, the patients can achieve the aesthetic results they desire as well as maintaining tooth integrity.
Tooth whitening is the safest, most effective way of achieving a brighter, whiter smile with no damage to your natural teeth. Here at Peters Village Dental, we offer Boutique Whitening. The process will be made up of three appointments over a 4-week period.

2. Retainer fit – we will fit your whitening trays at this appointment and provide you with your whitening gels and verbal and written instructions.
3. Whitening review – after two weeks of whitening you will come back for a whitening review where we will take post-op photos and see the results of your whitening.
This system allows the patients to have control over results, it is a very easy, very effective way to achieve desired outcomes, giving patients maximum satisfaction from treatment.
We encourage all parents and guardians to introduce dentistry to children from as young as possible. Children begin to get their baby teeth during their first six months therefore bringing your children to your own appointments with the dentist is proven to improve a child’s perception on dentistry, so they feel more comfortable if they needed any dental treatments in the future.
Dentistry has done a 180 and we encourage prevention rather than treatment. If we can inform children, the importance of keeping their teeth clean from a young age they’re more likely to have minimal dental treatment in the future. We don’t want to be drilling teeth – especially children!
Here at Peters Village Dental, we offer Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT) for all our patients during their hygiene sessions. GBT uses AirFlow technology which disrupts the biofilm/Plaque within our mouths using warm water, air and ultra fine powder – this removes all surface stain as well as disrupting the bacteria on a microscopic level, this system is specifically designed to be much more comfortable for the patient.
Our new patient hygiene appointments are an hour long. During this time, our hygienist will screen your gums for any signs of gum disease which could present either as a reversible, relatively common superficial inflammation of the gums (gingivitis) to a more serious irreversible, progressing disease where patients lose the support of the teeth, the teeth can become mobile and eventually need to be extracted or in some cases exfoliate naturally (periodontitis). Diseases that affect the gums can present at any time and can be very silent in nature.
Common signs and symptoms include:
• Bleeding gums
• Inflamed/swollen red gums
• Sensitivity
• Receding gums
• Pain on brushing
• Halitosis (bad breath)
• Mobile/Loose teeth
• Suppuration (Pus)
A comprehensive assessment of the gums and supporting tooth structures will be recorded, followed by the removal of stain, plaque and tartar through our comfortable treatment pathway. To finish, our hygienist will provide and demonstrate a tailored home care routine so our patients can maintain and manage their oral hygiene between visits. Our hygienist will make it her mission to motivate and encourage each of our patients so they comfortable and confident in treatments and techniques.
Appropriate recall appointment intervals will be set depending on patients individual needs and level of support required.
Fillings repair broken, chipped and decayed teeth and is one of the most common treatments carried out in dentistry. Here at Peters Village Dental, we only offer white composite fillings ensuring maximum aesthetic confidence in your smile, this type of material also supports a minimal approach to dentistry where the maximum amount of tooth structure can be maintained due to the filling material bonding to the natural tooth which in turn improves integrity, strength and longevity of the whole tooth.
Any decay will be removed from the tooth, filling material will be placed, shaped and set. The patients bite will be checked ensuring the correct relationship between both jaws when biting together. The tooth will be polished to finish.
The nerve of a tooth is situated within a chamber in the middle of the tooth, if bacteria has contaminated this area through decay which if left can cause infection/abscess’s or the root of the tooth has been damage/fractured by trauma the tooth may need a root filling. This treatment involves administering local anesthetic to the area ensuring the patient doesn’t experience any pain during the procedure. The dentist will make a small hole to access the chamber, the infected, dying/dead nerve tissue is removed, the canals are shaped and the root canals are filled and sealed. In most cases a crown is then fitted to provide strength and durability of the tooth.
Successful root canal treatment can prevent the tooth from early extraction, eliminate infection and prevent an abscess progressing, it will alleviate pain and the tooth in most cases settles within a few days.
Here at Peters Village Dental, we have invested in the best of the best with regards to equipment and materials, for example we use a dental microscope when carrying out our root fillings. This enables the dentist to work with a much clearer field increasing the chances of all the canals within the tooth being accessed successfully. Using specialized pieces of equipment like the microscope gives our treatments a much higher success rate providing a more thorough treatment and service to our patients.
Root filling are often described as one of the most difficult procedures carried out in dentistry.
Veneers are thin coverings produced from porcelain or composite resin which are bonded onto the front surface of your tooth. Veneers require a minimal amount of tooth surface preparation and in some cases no preparation is needed at all. Veneers can be used to disguise mis-shaped, chipped or stained teeth, they can also be used to close gaps or in some cases even correct crocked, rotated or misaligned teeth.
Veneers can recreate smiles and give people their smile confidence back. Veneers can be designed exactly to each individual patient preferences, that includes deciding on the color, shape and any naturalistic features you may or may not want. Our talented team of dentists at Peters Village will guide you along the way to achieving your perfect smile.
Dentures are a custom-made removable plate or frame which holds artificial teeth, replacing one, several or even all the teeth in a dental arch (jaw). Dentures are one of the most cost effective and quick ways to replace missing teeth. Many kinds of dentures are worn by millions of people across the world and for some people they’re a brilliant way to restore your smile and to bring back confidence to your smile.
Dentures are made to look and function like your natural teeth and dentures can really be life changing – they can help restore the shape of a patient’s face by adding definition if a sunken facial appearance has developed from the result of tooth loss and reduced bone levels renewing a patient’s confidence and improving their quality of life.
Orthodontic treatments are used to straighten natural teeth. There are a few techniques as to how this is achieved, for example, clear aligners with systems such as Invisalign, fixed braces (metal or ceramic) or orthodontic removable appliances which are mostly used with children to help promote the growth of their jaws to prevent braces in their future.
Are you a nervous patient? If your answer is yes, then sedation could be the right approach for you. Here at Peters Village Dental, we offer conscious sedation to anyone who may need it when undergoing their treatments, our trained and experienced dentists will help put you at ease and as comfortable as possible to ensure your smile goals are achievable.
Aesthetic Services
Anti-wrinkle injections are a non-surgical cosmetic treatment that use small amounts of a purified protein to temporarily relax targeted facial muscles. By reducing muscle movement, they help soften the appearance of dynamic lines and wrinkles, such as forehead lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet. Treatment is quick, involves minimal downtime, and results typically begin to appear within a few days, lasting around 3–4 months for most people.
Skin boosters are injectable treatments designed to deeply hydrate and improve overall skin quality from within. Typically containing hyaluronic acid, they help enhance skin hydration, elasticity, and radiance while reducing the appearance of fine lines and improving texture. Suitable for the face, neck, décolletage, and hands, skin boosters provide a refreshed, healthy glow with gradual, natural-looking results.
Microneeding is a minimally invasive cosmetic treatment for your skin. The treatment involves thin needles which penetrate the skin’s surface (epidermis) with the deepest needle depth approximately 1.5mm dependent on the troubled area we are treating. The minor damage the needles make to the skin stimulates your skin’s healing process, this leads to our skin producing more elastin and collagen promoting a healthier, more youthful appearance.
Microneedling has many benefits to the skin and is recommended for best results that a course of 4-6 sessions is complete and are spaced out every 4-6 weeks to see the full results. Troubled areas microneedling can improve are fine lines; wrinkles; acne scaring; pigmentation and sun damage; enlarged pores, stretch marks and surgical scars. The downtime is minimal, you may be slightly red for 24 hours which is totally normal, no makeup and only gentle cleansers and moisturisers to be used for the first 2-3 days, no acidic products, retinol or direct sun exposure for 2 weeks after and an SPF 50 to be worn every day.

Dermal fillers are a non-surgical cosmetic treatment designed to restore lost volume, enhance facial contours, and smooth lines and wrinkles. Using hyaluronic acid-based fillers, treatment can add definition to areas such as the lips, cheeks, chin, and jawline while helping to create a refreshed, natural-looking appearance. Results are visible immediately, with minimal downtime, and can last from several months to over a year depending on the treatment area and product used.
Polynucleotides are an advanced regenerative treatment that works to repair, rejuvenate, and improve skin health at a cellular level. Derived from purified DNA fragments, they stimulate tissue regeneration, support collagen production, and improve skin elasticity, hydration, and texture. Ideal for treating dull, ageing, or damaged skin, as well as delicate areas such as under the eyes, polynucleotides help create a smoother, firmer, and more youthful appearance over time.
Chemical skin peels improve the overall texture of your skin by removing the top layers of skin with a chemical preparation. The new skin underneath is normally smoother with less imperfections than beforehand. Chemical skin peels treat multiple skin concerns and work on fine lines and wrinkles, acne and acne scaring, sunspots and pigmentation, large pores and greasy or uneven skin. It is recommended for best results to undergo a course of 4-6 sessions to achieve the best results. These sessions can be spread as little as 4 weeks apart depending on the strength of the chemical peel used- this can be discussed with our skin clinician during your consultation.
There is little to no downtime after a chemical skin peel, you may notice some redness or dryness and irritation over the first few days and your skin may even look slightly flaky or peel in some areas. It is important to stay out of direct sunlight or UV exposure for 2 weeks and to apply SPF 50 daily, not to use any acids or retinol on the skin and to use a basic gentle cleanser and moisturiser for 2 weeks until the skin has settled.
